HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW MUCH TIME IS INVOLVED?

It’s actually very inexpensive and there are numerous options regarding overall cost depending on how much instruction you want (choose a single session, add others one at a time, or choose a package option). Time spent on instruction is 90 minutes for the first session and 60 minutes for any additional sessions. See FEES & REGISTRATION for private, group, and package fees.

WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Meditation is about relaxing the body and quieting the mind, which in turn produces a deep state of calm and peace. During meditation, you direct your attention to a desired focus and eliminate the stream of “busy” thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress. It generally involves an internal effort to self-regulate the mind in some way. Regular meditation often results in enhanced physical and emotional well-being.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MEDITATION?

Meditation is commonly used for relaxation, stress reduction and to complement and enhance standard medical treatment. Meditation is a mind-body modality which can be also be used for personal growth and spiritual development. You can use meditation for:

  • Stress Relief: increase calmness & physical relaxation, cope with life events
  • Spiritually: to enhance prayers or connect with God / Source / Higher self
  • Physical Health: to improve or enhance overall wellness.
  • Mental Health: cultivating positive thinking, analyzing negative emotions, forgiveness, improve psychological balance

See a more comprehensive list of the benefits of meditation.

HOW MANY TYPES OF MEDIATION ARE THERE?

The term meditation refers to a broad variety of practices (much like the term sports) and is a deeply personal experience. The term "meditation" can refer to the state itself, as well as to practices or techniques employed to cultivate the state. There are numerous specific styles of meditation practice. See sample list of types of meditations.

WHO CAN LEARN TO MEDITATE?

People of every age, religion, country and culture can meditate. It's simple, inexpensive, and doesn't require any special equipment. Instruction is customized to you and your goals.

IS IT DIFFICULT TO LEARN?

Meditation is so easy to learn that you will begin after the first introductory session.
From that point you have the choice of:

  • Continuing to practice on your own
  • Continue to receive training and practice on a regular basis
  • Continue to receive training and practice sporadically as your schedule allows
  • Return to instruction any time you want to brush up, have questions, or want to learn something new

A common saying about meditation is, “YOU CAN’T DO IT WRONG.” There is no “one right way” to meditate.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH TYPE OF MEDIATION IS BEST FOR ME?

When you register for the first introductory session, you will be given an information form to complete which help me make determinations and suggest possibilities you may be interested in exploring. During the first session, there is time for any questions and discussion about anything that needs to be addressed for the first or future sessions.

IS PRIVATE INSTRUCTION BETTER THAN GROUP INSTRUCTION?

No, it’s not better … just a bit different. Private sessions are customized to your needs and although group instruction can be customized for the group, those sessions will contain more general information with suggestions of ways the members can customize their own sessions. Group sessions are fun and often purchased as packages so that each week or so, a different technique is introduced and practiced.

ISN’T MEDIATION AN EASTERN SPIRITUAL PRACTICE?

Meditation was originally meant to help deepen understanding of the sacred and mystical forces of life and has been practiced since antiquity as a component of numerous religious traditions and beliefs. It is primarily associated with Buddhism. In the 1960’s and ‘70’s, Transcendental Meditation (TM) became very popular in the U.S.

People from all walks of life now practice meditation for numerous reasons. Meditation can be practiced in both spiritual or non-spiritual ways, but does not need to be associated with any religion or belief system to be effective.
